Staffing challenges have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing nursing leadership to reimagine models of care in both the acute care and ambulatory settings. Learn how two nursing leaders developed a team-based approach to close the gap and improve staff satisfaction, engagement, and the patient experience.

Speaker Bios:

Melissa Rackmil, MBA, BSN, RN
Melissa Rackmil is from Buffalo, NY graduating from Trocaire College with her Associate Degree in Science- Registered Nurse in 2008. Not long after passing her NYS Boards and becoming an RN, she went on for her Bachelor's degree in Nursing at D'Youville College in Buffalo, NY. After deciding on her career path, she went on to further her education and graduated from the Executive MBA Program at the University of Buffalo in 2016. She is a mom of 4 and relocated from Buffalo, NY to Rochester, NY when she accepted the position as the Vice President of Patient Care Services & Chief Nursing Officer. The Hospital is an affiliate of the University of Rochester Medical Center- St. James Hospital located in Hornell, NY.

Emily Sego, DNP, RN, NEA-BC
Emily brings 20+ years of experience to the nursing profession and has served in a variety of roles in acute care, cardiovascular, nursing education, care management, ambulatory, quality and performance excellence. Emily is currently the Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive at Community Health Network for ambulatory care where she oversees nursing practice for over 200 sites of care across the central Indiana region. Emily earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana and completed her Master's in Nursing Education and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Emily is a board certified, advanced nurse executive and is finishing her second term as the President of the Indiana State Nurses Association.
