Accreditation:  Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

The Nurse Manager Certificate Program is a robust Web-based educational tool using the latest evidence-based content. It is designed to help develop nursing management competencies necessary to function in today's fast-paced and ever-changing health care environment.

The curriculum and content were created by nurses with both academic and clinical expertise in leadership and management. Each course contains didactic content and learner activities designed to involve and engage the learner. Nursing continuing professional development (NCPD) contact hours are awarded for successful completion of each course. The courses do not have to be taken in any particular order. When all the courses in the program and the post-assessment have been completed (passed with a score of 80% or higher), the learner will receive a Certificate of Completion of Sigma Theta Tau International's Nurse Manager Certificate Program.

New Program Additions for 2023

  1. Each course now features full-narration of content. Learners can opt out by turning off their audio if they choose to read the on-screen material.
  2. Program content mapped to the new AONL Nurse Leader Core Competencies, released in 2022. Additional revisions to course content have been made to ensure up to date statistics and references. (for example, the Joint Commission's Sentinel Event annual review for 2023).
  3. All learning activities have been converted to online fillable forms, promoting hybrid learning and implementation across academic and clinical settings. These activities are available to the learner from the course player for download or print. Additional Sigma-branded resources are also accessible to learner for download/print from the course player.
  4. Improved functionality added to the post-program assessment to provide a detailed exam result summary that is printable with learner name and date of completion. The Pre-Assessment has been removed and learners will now be required to earn a passing score (80% or higher) for earn the Nurse Manager Certificate Program" program completion certificate.

Features of this Program:

Mapping: Each course is mapped to QSEN competencies, the AONL Nurse Manager Competencies, pathways and magnet standards to demonstrate the direct link between this program and the professional standards of nursing. These competencies and standards served as a framework for course content development.

Learner Development Plan: Each course features a Learner Development Plan to form goals to guide the student's learning.

Interactive features: Throughout the courses the learner will encounter interactive features, like links to websites, pop-up boxes, and clickable buttons and boxes. It is important to ensure the pop-up blocker is turned off, and to watch for instructions on the pages for interactive features.

Audio and video content: The courses contain some audio and video content. Learners will need to have a computer with speakers or a headset in order to hear the content.

Knowledge check questions: These questions will be throughout the course material and are not graded. They are in place to call attention to main points and ensure comprehension.

Notes and sidebars: Notes and sidebars draw attention to important or additional information.

Learning activities: The courses contain short answer questions and additional activities to further understanding. The learning activities are specific to each course. They are built into the course and are linked to PDF versions which can be printed or saved and performed as an assignment or group activity. Each of the courses' learning activities are listed under each course within this guide.

Final course test: The final course test must be completed in order to receive the nursing continuing education credit (NCPD). Learners must score at least 80% to pass.

Certificate of completion: Learners will be prompted to complete the post-assessment after completing all 16 courses. The courses do not have to be taken in order. The completion of the Post-Assessment will generate a Certificate of Completion for the Nurse Manger Certificate Program.
