DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed to explore the vital role of mentorship in nursing. Nurses face continued challenges throughout all areas of practice and professional growth. Sharing knowledge is important to ensure that nurses have the retrospective insight to improve future experience and patient care outcomes. Through a closer look at mentorship, you will better understand your role as mentor and mentee to shape continuity and synergize global healthcare dynamics. This course further examines the benefits of mentorship, individual and group dynamics, and how these factors should be considered when creating mentor programs. Finally, creating a mentorship program and defining measures of success will be reviewed.

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

After participating in this course, learners will be able to:

  • Define the roles of both the mentor and mentee
  • Address challenges of mentorship through practice of common scenarios
  • Distinguish between different types of mentorship models
  • Demonstrate steps for creating and implementing mentorship programs through practice scenarios within both academic and healthcare settings

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY

Robin Geiger, DNP, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, NP-C, NEA-BC

Dr. Robin Geiger is a board-certified nurse executive with over 25 years of nursing experience. She is the Chief Nursing Officer for Ingenovis Health. She obtained her doctorate in nursing practice (DNP) from Touro University, her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of South Alabama, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Central Florida. She is board-certified as a Nurse Executive- Advanced (NEA-BC) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) and maintains clinical privileges as co-founder and owner of a concierge telehealth practice.

She is often sought as a keynote speaker and lecturer on leadership, mentorship, and advocacy. She hosts the Clinician Voice podcast series, and the ACT for Health Professionals Webinar Series. She has presented and published on multiple healthcare topics.

An Executive Dean at Strategic Education., Dr. Webb’s specialties include global health and nursing workforce. Adele collaborates with WHO and the World NCD Congress and has contributed to nurse capacity building in 67 countries. She received the Nicholas Andrew Cummings award for Excellence in Interprofessional Practice, is an ICN Global Health Fellow, and a Fellow in the National Academies of Practice and the American Academy of Nursing.
