Scholarship of Discovery delves into research as a track for advancement in the nurse educator role. It also provides a review of key concepts of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research.

Course Learning Outcomes:

• Define the scholarship of research
• Describe alternative approaches to nursing science including dissemination and implementation research
• Demonstrate understanding of the foundational steps involved in conducting quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research
• Identify strategies to aid in the development and advancement of a research trajectory to achieve scholar recognition/tenure/promotion

Danielle EK Perkins, PhD, RN currently serves as manager for the Sigma/ Chamberlain University Center for Excellence in Nursing Education. She has taught undergraduate baccalaureate nursing students in clinical, classroom, and online settings in the areas of nursing research, medical-surgical nursing, and community health nursing.
