In this webinar, we will discuss the history of vaccinations, beginning with the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic and ending with the COVID-19 pandemic. We will discuss best practices to address vaccination hesitancy along with other epidemiological principles such as herd immunity.

This course will retire after 7th February 2025.

Learning Outcomes:
After participating in this course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the similar characteristics of the 1918 Pandemic of the Spanish Fly to present day with the COVID-19 Pandemic
  • Identify best practices to address vaccination hesitancy
  • Discuss other epidemiological principles such as herd immunity

Speaker Bio:

Diane Breckenridge, PhD, MSN, RN, ANEF, FAAN
Dr. Breckenridge as a predoctoral and postdoctoral research fellow, graduate from University of Pennsylvania and University of Maryland, as well as a previous head nurse in a Renal Transplantation Unit has studied immunology related to T and B cells. She is a contributor to Immunology book, Springhouse Corporation; now Lippincott Publishing. Dr. Breckenridge is the creator of the Nursing Education, Research, and Practice (NERP) Model, based on neighborhood health center principles, for nursing students to continue to meet clinical objectives at testing and vaccination sites during the COVID-19 Pandemic. She mentored students in their research regarding COVID-19 Vaccination comparisons, as well as the side effects and vaccination hesitancy the students' neighbors were experiencing.
