As the specialty of forensic nursing grows and evolves, research, literature, and practice guidelines will support specialty and role expansion. Education on forensic nursing topics and concepts is essential as it forms the basis for certification. The webinar will provide an introduction to the fastest growing nursing specialty today. The past, present, and future of forensic nursing will be discussed, highlighting the continued need for trauma-informed, patient-centered practice.

Speaker Bios:
Diana Faugno, MSN, RN, CPN, FAAFS, SANE-A, SANE-P, DF-IAFN, DF-AFN
Diana Faugno graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing-University of North Dakota and a Master of Science in Nursing-University of Phoenix. Ms. Faugno is a Founding Board Director for End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI) She is a founding board member for the Academy of Forensic Nursing and the current past president of the Academy of Forensic Nursing as well as a retired fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Science. She is a Distinguished Fellow in the International Association of Forensic Nurses and the Academy of Forensic Nursing. She currently is the nurse examiner at Live Safe resources in Dallas, Georgia. She was the nurse examiner at the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center and Eisenhower Medical Center's SART team for many years.
Valerie Sievers, MSN, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P, DF-AFN, Forensic Clinical Nurse Specialist
Valerie Sievers is a Forensic Clinical Nurse Specialist with more than 35years of health care experience as a registered nurse, advanced practice nurse, educator, and consultant with extensive practice experience in the areas of emergency and critical care nursing, academia, and forensic clinical practice. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Val provides advanced education regarding the care & treatment of patients affected by interpersonal violence and abuse. She is currently board certified as an adult-adolescent and pediatric sexual assault nurse examiner, is a founding board member of the Academy of Forensic Nursing, and owner of Med Law Consultants, LLC, a forensic healthcare consulting practice.
Stacey A. Mitchell, DNP, MBA, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P, DF-AFN, FAAN
Dr. Mitchell is currently a Clinical Professor at Texas A&M University and director of the Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing. She has practiced as a forensic nurse for 28 years in the clinical arena and in the medical examiner setting. She is the President of the Forensic Nursing Certification Board, a 501(c)3 not for profit organization. Dr. Mitchell consults regularly on cases and lectures nationally.
