We all know, however, that school does not always prepare you for everything. This session will provide you with at least 20 tips or tricks that every early career nurse should know.
It is normal to be nervous, excited, and maybe even a little frightened in the first few years of your new nursing profession. You made it through to the end of that tunnel that seemed impossible, and now it’s time to put everything you have learned into practice. We all know, however, that school does not always prepare you for everything. This session will provide you with at least 20 tips or tricks that every early career nurse should know.

- Discuss one resource for supporting a transition into the nursing profession
- Describe at least two ideas that can be implemented by your next working shift to facilitate a transition into a nursing specialty.

Speaker Bios:
Justine Baron, MN, is a lecturer at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Her passion is midwifery and it's also her chosen field of specialization in which she has practiced for many years. Justine holds a Masters in Nursing, a Bachelor of Nursing Honours in advanced midwifery and Neonatology, a Bachelor of Art in nursing education and administration and a Diploma in Nursing (general, community and psychiatry) and midwifery.
Sarabeth Silver, MN, is a clinical and administrative leader, with over 7.5 years of experience in the care and support of surgical/oncology patients. Sarabeth practices as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in a surgical/oncology inpatient unit at Mount Sinai Hospital, and works as an after hours Administrator on Site at Toronto Western Hospital. Sarabeth is passionate about advocating for oral hygiene and is actively leading a hospital-wide oral care strategy. In addition, Sarabeth prioritizes her work around supporting and mentoring novice nursing students and nurses.
Jose Arnold Tariga, PhD, MSN, RN, CPHQ, CNE,is a nurse who is very passionate about clinical education and healthcare quality. He holds a Ph.D. in Education, is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and Certified Nurse Educator. He is currently working as an Education Coordinator in Amana Healthcare, the leading post-acute provider in the Middle East, and an Adjunct Faculty in a nursing university in UAE. He was also recognized as Healthcare Professional of the Year2019 by The Filipino Times Awards, UAE.
